Terms of Service

Play fair, post only your own runs, and don’t use the site to hurt anyone. The recordings are yours. The site, the addon and the uploader are a fan project, offered as they are.

1. These terms

These terms cover your use of Widsith: the website, the replay, the boards, the addon and the Widsith Uploader. They are an agreement between you and Reflective Grove LLC. By signing in, installing the addon or the uploader, or going on using Widsith, you accept them; if you don’t, please don’t use it. You must be at least 13 to use Widsith, or older where the law where you live requires it to agree to terms like these.

2. What Widsith is

An addon that writes down what happens to your character while you play, a website that turns that record into a replay, a shelf of your characters and boards of runs, and an app that sends the record to the website for you. Widsith is a fan project. It is not made, endorsed or supported by Blizzard Entertainment. World of Warcraft and Warcraft are trademarks or registered trademarks of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. in the U.S. and/or other countries. Your use of the game itself is governed by Blizzard’s own terms; the addon uses only what the game makes available to addons.

3. Your recordings

Your recordings are yours. When you add one to Widsith, you give Reflective Grove LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store it, work out the runs in it, show those runs on the boards, in replays and in the recaps of people who follow you, make the copies needed to run the service, and study it to find faults and improve the service, for as long as it stays on Widsith. You can remove a recording at any time; the licence ends when it is removed, apart from backups that expire on their normal schedule and totals worked out from many recordings, which name no one.

4. Your account

One Battle.net account makes one Widsith account. What is sent under your account, by you or by a computer you linked, is yours to answer for. Keep your linked computers to ones you control, and unlink one you no longer do.

5. The uploader

The Widsith Uploader reads the recordings the addon writes and Battle.net’s list of where the game is installed, and sends new play to Widsith for the characters you have chosen to keep. It checks for a newer version of itself every few hours and installs one when you ask, or by itself when the app has been left alone for a while. You may install and use it on computers you own or control. You may not change it, take it apart or hand it on. It is offered as it is, like the rest of Widsith.

6. Fair play

You agree not to:

  • post a recording you have edited, stitched together or generated, or one that isn’t yours;
  • post runs made with bots, exploits or anything else that breaks the game’s rules;
  • use character names or runs to harass, impersonate or mislead anyone;
  • interfere with the service, get around its limits, or collect data from it in bulk without asking.

We may remove runs, reset a board, or change how a board is measured when that keeps it fair. The boards are for fun and bragging rights; there are no prizes unless we say so in writing.

7. Reports and removal

Anyone signed in can report a run or a player’s name. We may take a run off the boards, hold a character back from the boards, clear a player’s chosen name, or hide a character’s name in others’ replays at that character’s owner’s request. A run taken off the boards stays in its owner’s own history. We may close an account that keeps breaking these terms, and we will say why when we do.

8. Our part

The site’s design, code and text belong to Reflective Grove LLC or to its licensors (the credits are in the footer). Game names, places and items belong to Blizzard Entertainment and are used here only to describe what was recorded.

If you send us an idea or a report, or vote on the roadmap, we may use what you sent to improve Widsith without owing you anything for it. The roadmap says what we plan, not what we promise: items may change, wait or be dropped, whatever their votes.

9. Other services

Character pictures come from Blizzard’s profile service and gear icons from its game data service. In a replay and on a character’s page, item, creature and quest names come from Wowhead. Their terms apply to what they provide, and we aren’t responsible for them. The map art, the class icons, the games’ logos and the item names shown everywhere else are Blizzard Entertainment’s, kept in our storage so that the site can show a journey on the map it was played on, say which game it is from and name what was found. They are shown free of charge and without advertising, and we will take them down if Blizzard asks.

10. No guarantees

Widsith is offered as it is and as available, without any warranty, express or implied, including of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. It may be unavailable, lose data, or get something wrong. Keep your own copy of anything that matters to you: the recording file in your game folder is the original. What Blizzard’s services and Wowhead provide comes as they provide it.

11. Liability

To the extent the law allows, Reflective Grove LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, lost profits, or loss of data arising from your use of Widsith, and our total liability to you for everything together is limited to fifty US dollars or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, whichever is greater. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and nothing takes away rights the law where you live gives you as a consumer.

12. If someone makes a claim because of you

To the extent the law allows, if a claim is brought against us because of a recording you added, a name you chose, or something you did on Widsith against these terms, you will cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it.

13. Disputes

If something goes wrong, write to us first at info@widsith.app and give us sixty days to sort it out. Any claim that can’t be settled that way goes to the state or federal courts in New Mexico, and you and we each give up the right to a jury trial and to bring or join a class or representative action, to the extent the law allows. If you are a consumer, nothing here takes away the courts or the rights the law where you live gives you. Any claim must be brought within one year of when it arose.

14. Ending and changes

You can stop using Widsith at any time, and delete everything you keep here from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. We may change these terms. A change that matters will be announced on the site, and in the uploader, at least fourteen days before it applies, unless the law requires a change sooner; the date at the top changes when it does, and going on using Widsith after that is accepting the change. If Widsith ever closes, we will say so on the site at least thirty days ahead where we can, with time to download your recordings.

15. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Mexico, United States, without taking away any rights the law where you live gives you as a consumer.

16. The rest

These terms and the privacy page are the whole agreement between you and us about Widsith. If a part of them can’t be enforced, the rest still stands. If we don’t insist on a term once, we haven’t given it up. We may hand these terms on to a successor who takes over Widsith; you may not hand yours on. The parts about your recordings, liability and disputes outlive your account.

17. Contact

info@widsith.app. See also the privacy page and the Your data page.

Sign in with Battle.net

Battle.net tells Widsith your BattleTag, your account’s permanent ID and which characters are on your account, so a character you bring can be shown to be yours. It never gives us your password or your email address, and we keep nothing more than that.

Signed in, your characters are on every computer you sign in on, and the Widsith Uploader can send your new play for you.

By continuing you agree to the Terms of Service and the Privacy page.

Open your recording

The game only writes Widsith.lua when the interface reloads. If you have played since you last brought it, click the Widsith flame by your minimap, or log out, or type /reload.

Where the file is

C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft ›_classic_beta_ ›WTF ›Account ›your account ›your realm ›your character ›SavedVariables › Widsith.lua

Each character has a file of its own. The Where’s my file? guide walks you to it.

If you'd rather not find it each time, the Widsith Uploader sends your recordings for you after you play.

The recording plays straight away in this browser. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to keep it on Widsith.
